Pet Detective - Prepositions Game
Make practicing prepositions fun with this amusing language game!
Uses:
- Can be used as a speaking game to practice using the prepositions "in," "on," and "under" in full sentences
- Great for ESL/EFL, but can be used for any foreign/second language learning as all text is editable
How it works:
- Pets are lost in different rooms, it's up to the students to find them.
- In each room, there are 10 different hiding places marked by star icons.
- To guess where a pet is, students make a sentence. For example, "It's under the bed." or "It's in the bag." or "It's on the chair."
- How I've laid the game out, students play in pairs, but feel free to adjust (play as individuals/pairs/teams) based on the number of students in your class.
- When it's their team's turn, one student will ask the question, "Where is my (type of pet)?" and the other will answer with their team's guess, "It's...the..."
- They will switch roles each time it's their team's turn.
- After the student makes a sentence, the teacher will click the star button that matches their answer to reveal if they found the pet, a spider, or nothing.
- If their team finds a pet, they get 3 points, but if they find a spider, they lose 1 point.
- The team with the most points at the end of the game wins!
