A great warm-up or end-of-class guessing game that helps students practice food vocabulary and expressions in an engaging way.

Uses:

• Can be used as a speaking or writing activity to practice language for ordering or requesting food
• Great for ESL/EFL, but can be used for any foreign/second language learning as all text is editable

How it works:

Simple Version

• One by one you'll show students four ingredients.
• Students raise their hand and try to guess what food the ingredients make by making a sentence, "I'd like to have ________." (Feel free to change this to the target language you're using in your own classes.)
• If they're correct, you'll reveal the food on the next slide.
• If you want to add a dialogue component to the game, you can also have the class first ask the student guessing a question such as, "What would you like to have?"

Writing Variation

• Split your students in to pairs or teams depending on your class size and give each a mini white board, dry erase marker, and an eraser.
• After you reveal all four ingredients, have all teams write the sentence with their answer on their boards.
• Once all teams are finished writing/time is up have each team present their answer.
• Reveal the correct answer on the PowerPoint and give teams who wrote that answer 1 point.
• The team with the most points at the end of the game wins!

Format:

This game template has been created as a fun, animated PowerPoint. To make your job as easy as possible, you can play the game as is with my 10 pre-made slides or make your own using my provided template (instructions included).
