Lost & Found - Ordinal Number Game
Students put their memories to the test in this brain game-turned language game!
Uses:
- Can be used as a speaking or writing game to practice ordinal numbers and/or language describing where things are (Where is the...?"; "It's on the...floor.")
- Great for ESL/EFL, but can be used for any foreign/second language learning as all text is editable
How it works:
- Students have 1 minute to look at the picture of items on different floors.
- Their goal is to try to remember what floor each item is on.
- When time is up, they will be asked about 1 item.
- On their whiteboards (or whichever medium you choose), they will write the number of the floor it’s on.
- After writing, each student/team will reveal their answer. When it’s their turn to reveal, they say a sentence with their answer: “It’s on the (#) floor.”
- Correct answers get 1 point, and the person/team with the most points at the end of the game wins! (I've had success without the point/competition aspect of this game as well.)
- Feel free to adjust how you want students to answer. For example, I’ve also had students just write their answers as full sentences in their notebooks if I wanted it to be more writing-focused.
Format:
This game template has been created as a fun, animated PowerPoint and extra notes on how to play have been provided in the "Notes" sections of each slide. This game is also ready to play as is. However, if using it for a different language or you would like to change the floor numbers, all the text is editable. This Powerpoint has been tested on both Windows and Mac. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out.
