Looks Like a Match
☆ Created by The Cross-Cultural Classroom ☆
A great educational activity in the form of a gameshow! Download this language game as a fun way for your students to practice language describing people's appearances!
Uses:
- Can be used as a speaking or writing game to practice language describing people and appearances ("What does he/she look like?"; "He/She has..."; "He's/She's wearing...")
- Great for ESL/EFL, but can be used for any foreign/second language learning as all text is editable
How it works:
Speaking Version:
- Split students up into teams (can also play in pairs or individually if there aren’t too many students).
- Students look at the picture and say a sentence about what that person looks like using the sentence, “He/She has…” or “He’s/She’s wearing…”
- You can have teams each say one sentence per slide (teams make a sentence about the same picture) or have one team try to win as many points as they can on one slide (each team has a different picture).
- If their sentence matches a sentence hidden on the board, they get 1-5 points depending on the sentence they matched.
- The team with the most points at the end of the game wins!
- For this version, I have also included an Answer Sheet file for you to reference in order to remember which answers are under each point box.
Writing Version:
- For this version, I usually have students play individually, but you can easily do this one with pairs or teams as well.
- Students look at the picture and write 3 sentences about what the person looks like using the sentences, “He/She has…” or “He’s/She’s wearing…”
- When time is up, you will show the sentence behind each box.
- If any of their sentences match the ones on the board, they get the points on the box of the sentence(s) they matched.
- The person with the most points at the end of the game wins!
Format:
