How to Play

• Split students up into 6 teams of countries (can also play in pairs or individually if there aren’t too many students).
• Teams choose a box and read the word/sentence in the box.
• Then, you press the corresponding arrow to “hide” their country under the box they chose: 1st arrow = 1st sentence, 2nd arrow = 2nd sentence, etc.
• After all countries are hidden, press the “Send in the ninjas!” button to send the ninjas out to attack.
• One to four ninjas will appear and attack certain boxes (once the castle disappears, no more ninjas will attack).
• Teams whose countries are not attacked get points.
• 1 Ninja = 1 point for each surviving team. So if 2 ninjas attack, then the teams not attacked get 2 points each. 3 ninjas, 3 points, and so on.
• If only 1 team remains not attacked after all ninjas attack, that team gets double points. Since some slides have 4 ninjas attacking, there’s a chance for 8 points to a single surviving team.
• The team with the most points at the end of the game wins!

Variations

• If the scoring system is too complicated for students to understand, you can switch to a simple scoring system where teams get 1 point if they're not attacked (doesn't matter how many ninjas attack).
• The instructions above are for the reading version of this game. To play as a speaking game, use images instead of words in the boxes. A template for this version is also included as hidden slides at the end of the PowerPoint. Further in instructions on how to play and edit this version are found in the "notes" section of the PowerPoint.
• The online/Zoom version of this game is also the writing version. For this version, have students individually choose a box and write their answer, send in the ninjas, and students whose boxes aren't attacked win points!
