Give Me 3 - Comparative Adjective Game

A great educational activity in the form of a gameshow! Download this language game as a fun way for your students to practice comparative sentences!

Uses:

• Can be used as a writing or speaking game to practice using comparative adjectives in sentences
• Great for ESL/EFL, but can be used for any foreign/second language learning as all text is editable

How it works:

Writing Version

• For this version, I usually have students play individually, but you can easily do this one with pairs or teams as well.
• On each slide, students will see 3 pictures with 2 comparative adjectives above them.
• Students write 3 comparative sentences about the pictures they see using the adjectives.
• When time is up, you will show them your sentence.
• If one of their sentences matches yours, they get a point.
• The person with the most points at the end of the game wins!

Speaking Version

• Split students up into teams (can also play in pairs or individually if there aren’t too many students).
• On each slide, students will see 3 pictures with 2 comparative adjectives above them (same as the writing version).
• One by one, each team says a comparative sentence about the pictures they see using the adjectives (you can decide if teams can repeat answers or not).
• After all teams have said sentences, you reveal the secret sentence.
• The team(s) whose sentence matches the secret sentence wins a point.
• The team with the most points at the end of the game wins!

Format:

This game template has been created as a fun, animated PowerPoint and extra notes on how to play have been provided in the "Notes" sections of each slide. To make your job as easy as possible, you can play the game as is with my pre-made slides or make your own using my provided templates. This Powerpoint has also been tested on both Windows and Mac.
