Writing Online-Friendly 10+ Minute Runtime

Game Features

  • Features imagery and sound effects from the anime
  • Play as a reading or a writing game

How to Play

  • Students play this game individually, as pairs, or as teams depending on your class size.
  • One by one they choose a box by reading the word/sentence in the box.
  • The teacher clicks the box to reveal one of six rewards/punishments behind it.
  • The student/pair/team with the most points at the end of the game wins!

Variations

  • The instructions above are for the reading version of this game. If you want to use it as a writing activity, have students choose a box by writing the word/sentence in the box. This can be done individually or as teams. Then, reveal all points behind the boxes after students are finished writing.
  • The online/Zoom version of this game is also a writing variation. Similar to the writing variation above, students choose a box by writing the word/sentence in the box. However, this version is only done individually and I have updated the some of the scoring to reflect that (no stealing or choosing again).

Teacher Feedback

(comments and runtimes from the previous version of my site)

  • I loved this, and I made a variation of this as a "put a finger down" challenge. So they have to put a finger down if they've don a certain activity, and lose "3 fingers" or 3 points on certain ones. I used it online too and they loved it! - Emily
