Listening Online-Friendly Single-Student Friendly 10+ Minute Runtime

Game Features

  • For an added challenge, includes 5 levels where the teacher will adjust their talking speed depending on the level
  • Play as a listening or a listening/reading game - templates for both versions included in the PowerPoint

How to Play

  • Students can see different pictures on the safe, each with numbers under them.
  • The teacher will read a set of words or sentences.
  • Students will try to match what the teacher says to the pictures on the screen and write down the numbers under them.
  • The numbers they write will make a code to unlock the safe.
  • Once students have finished writing, the teacher will click/press the spacebar to reveal the code and check the students' answers.

Variations

  • The instructions above are for the listening version of this game. If you want to add a reading component, use words instead of pictures in the boxes. A template for this version is also included as hidden slides at the end of the PowerPoint.

Teacher Feedback

(comments and runtimes from the previous version of my site)

  • Students: 15 | Time: ~15-20min | Skill Focus: Listening | Finished Game? 🟢

The game is great and I enjoy using varying talking speeds. I added gifs after each round (like unlock the bank) and added a money value. (right answers get +1,000 won up to 100,000won depending on the level). The gifs get a good reaction in addition to the money aspect. Students add all of the money they made at the end. This adds about +5 minutes to the game (making the total run time about 20 minutes). - Anon

  • Students: 25 | Time: 8min | Skill Focus: Listening | Finished Game? 🟢

Played with fifth grade, I took about a minute and a half for each round. Most kids got it pretty quickly. I made an extra slide with a cute meme to show what they "unlocked". - Anon
