What is this?

Telepathy game is where students must choose the same answer as the character.

Game details:

Level: Beginner Elementary / Video duration: 3:45 / # of questions: 11

Teaching points:

Have students identify what they see. Decide on any sentence modeling you wish used.

Recommended teaching points are: like and dislike (don’t like).

  • T: Do you like ___?
  • S: I like ___. // I don’t like ___.

Active Answering:

Team / Individual / Group (auditorium)

Note: Consider your classroom size.

Option 1: Have students physically stand on the same side as the picture of their choice. The video will have an example of students lining up, but feel free to allow just the left side of the room or the right side of the room that aligns with their choice.

Option 2: This version of Telepathy Game is based on animals. Have students act like the animal they chose.

Note: Pause the video right before the answer reveals. Make sure students understand they must ‘freeze’ when the video is paused. This is to disallow students from changing their answer at the last minute.

Static Answering:

Hand each student or team a white board, board marker, and an eraser.

Have students write or draw their answers on the boards and turn the boards face down when they are done. Right as the timer is about to end, pause the video and have students lift their boards up before pressing play on the video again to reveal the answer.

Point System:

Award points to correct answers, additional points for correct spelling. Optional to have no point system.

Answer Key:

cat, chicken, elephant, lion, dolphin, kangaroo, moth, butterfly, moose, dragon
